The Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell was developed in 2 versions of the double agent. The 1st version was created by Ubisoft Shanghai and was released on Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, and PlayStation 3. The other version was created by Ubisoft Montreal and was released for Xbox, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube and Wii. Splinter Cell: Double Agent is available in two different versions: 'Version One' is available on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3; while the PS2, Xbox, GameCube and Nintendo Wii versions are labeled 'Version Two'. Both versions feature slightly different story, characters, missions and weapons.

Splinter Cell Double Agent Version 2
I recently started the Splinter Cell franchise on the PC and I just completed Chaos Theory. Loving the games so far, with the first one and Chaos theory as contenders for my favourite.
Now I want to give Double Agent a go but I was surprised to see two different games were made for consoles and for the PC. Which one do I play?
From what I've seen the PS2 and Xbox version (version 1) is regarded as the canonical one, while the PC version (version 2) features different non-canonical plot and gameplay and is built on a different engine. Also people refer to version 1 as the 'real' or 'true' version and consider it better.
I don't own a console but I guess I could play Version 1 on PC using an emulator like PCSX2, but playing it on a controller just wouldn't feel like a Splinter Cell game for me. I've gotten used to and grown to love the PC controls while playing through the first 3 games, and this sudden switch would feel unnatural.
Also, I wouldn't be able to tweak the game to work with widescreen, get better FOV and other stuff that I did with the previous games to make them look as pretty as possible.
So, is the PC version (Version 2) that much worse? Does a modded version of Version 2 exist to make it look and feel like Version 1 or something?
